Another great Sci-Fi series returns to television on BBC America: “Dr. Who.” The even better part is that the Doctor has a new, sexy, red head companion played by Karen Gillian. This girl is gorgeous and is Scottish so we are delighted by her accent too!

Karen Gillian grew up in Inverness, Scotland and showed an interest in acting early on. She attended youth theater groups and was in several of her high school’s stage productions. Karen grew more serious about acting at age 16 and enrolled at Italia Conti, a British theater arts training school. During her first year in London, she was cast on an episode of “Rebus” and she followed up with several more television appearances, including “The Kevin Bishop Show.” This year she also has a role in the movie “Outcast.”

Karen was cast as Amy Pond on “Dr. Who” at the beginning of 2009. Producers were charmed by Karen instantly and have promised that the sexy Scot will stick around through the current series, with the current Doctor played by Matt Smith. It will be exciting to see what this pair will encounter on their adventures.
